A week of work experience at Condor

Lauren spent time with our Sales & Marketing department, Contact Centre team and the People & Culture department to get a small taste of life at Condor. Read on to find out more about her time with us.

I spent a week at Condor Ferries for my work experience and I loved it! I wish I could’ve stayed longer! My time was spread out around Sales & Marketing, the Contact Centre and People & Culture.

During the two days I was in Sales & Marketing, I did a wide range of activities to get an idea of what jobs were available in the department. I felt very welcome on my first day and the nerves soon disappeared. My favourite task was the first piece of work I did on the second day. I had to practice writing a post for the ‘inspiration’ page on the Condor website. I then had to come up with ideas for a competition post for the Facebook page based on the work I had done previously which I enjoyed greatly.

My third day was spent in the Contact Centre listening in to calls and watching people reply to live chats. The atmosphere was great in the Contact Centre. Everyone was very lively and chatty, even as they were working. It was definitely a different experience to the two days prior, but still enjoyable.

My final two days were spent in People & Culture. This, again, was a very different experience to the other days but I still had a really good time. I was shown what a P&C department do, and I investigated some jobs that would be available to me if I wanted to have a career in the department. I had the opportunity to observe a few interviews which really helped me to gain an understanding of the recruitment process of a business.

I really enjoyed my time at Condor and all the people were very welcoming. Each different department was a new experience, but all were interesting. I am glad I had the opportunity to divide my time around the different areas as I now have a wider understanding of the working world and how different each job within a company are.
